Merit Awards
Merit Awards
Merit Awards recognize students who participate in school activities, exhibit a positive attitude in their classes, or perform service for the Mequon-Thiensville School District. Students who qualify for a Merit Award receive a specially designed award at the award ceremony.
-
Qualifications include:
- Attendance at four (4) activities (athletic, social or musical events, plays), to be certified by a parent.
- Membership in a Homestead club, athletic team, non-athletic team (debate, math, etc.), cast in a play/musical, or pit orchestra, to be certified by a faculty advisor.
- Projecting a positive attitude towards schoolwork, to be certified by two teachers.
- Performance of 10 total hours of service.
- A minimum of five (5) hours for the Mequon-Thiensville School District and/or its partner organizations. Qualifying MTSD and partner organizations include: Homestead, Lakeshore, Steffen, Donges Bay, Oriole Lane, Wilson, Range Line, MTEF, M-T Recreation Department, M-T Parks, M-T Rotary, M-T Optimists, T-M Lions Club, Turkey Trot, Gathering on the Green, City of Mequon, or the Village of Thiensville.
- Up to five (5) hours can be considered flex hours, which can be served at a community service organization of your choice (i.e. food pantries, hospitals, non-profits, or other community organizations).
- Service must take place between March 28, 2026 and March 18, 2027.
- Example: 5 hours of service to MTSD/Partner and 5 Hours of Flex Service, or 10 total hours of service to the MTSD/Partner would both count.
- Service work for which a student receives money or credit for a class does not apply.
- **Participating in band and pit orchestra, outside of school hours, will count towards participation in a club/activity, not service work.
- ** Service hours must be signed off by the event supervisor, not by a parent. Any questions of service activities should be directed to Assistant Principal Lindsay Charles prior to starting service hours.
